We are really looking forward to this term as we have lots of exciting activities planned!
This term, Ash class will be looking at science and learning how to identify flowers, understand what plants needs in order to grow and to name the basic parts of a flower. We will also be monitoring our class flowers and keeping a diary in order to observe how flowers grow and develop.
In English, Ash are going to be learning how to write stories using traditional tales such as ‘Jack and the Beanstalk ‘ and ‘Beegu’ as a guide . After that we are going to learn how to write acrostic poems.
After half term, we are going to be focusing on the difference between, living, non-living and ‘have never lived’ objects in science. We will be learning how to categorise these objects and talk about what makes something ‘living’.
Throughout the whole term, we will have a big focus on reading and phonics in class. Please make as much time as possible to read with your child and practise their phonics. A great website to use for phonics is phonics play as it has free and useful activities that you can use: http://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/
Another useful website is www.teachyourmonstertoread.com/ as it offers your child the chance to apply their phonic knowledge.
